Chapter 6484
While Harvey and Vaughn forged their alliance, Betty’s phone started to vibrate as she was at the Wright Manor.
Once she picked up the call and listened to the report, she couldn’t care less about the rules and rushed into Emery’s study immediately.
“We have a situation, Mr. Wright! It’s Janus and his men!
Janus and the core members from his branch have all been crippled! While I have no proof that it’s Harvey, I highly suspect that it’s him or his men.
“The worst part is, someone left Janus and his branch in front of your estate! Many have noticed this, and some of the reporters are already heading this way. We need your orders, Mr. Emery!”
Betty looked distraught. Emery’s right-hand man had been crippled and left right in front of his residence. It wasn’t a simple humiliation tactic-it was a psychological challenge aimed at him.
Betty knew just how cold Emery was. She was worried he would make the wrong choice, which could lead to undesirable consequences.
Emery, who was in the middle of a video conference, gave an apologetic look to those in the video conference with him and turned his mic off. Then, he turned and looked at Betty.
“Where is your grace? No need to make such a ruckus when it’s something so minor. So what if Janus is crippled for failing in his task?” he said.
“But they’re left in front of the residence,” Betty whispered, “No one knows how to deal with them. You need to make a decision quickly.”
Emery smiled and said, “The best way to deal with this is to stop those who delivered Janus and his men, and take them all away without alerting anyone. But now that we’ve missed the best timing, there’s no need to rush anymore. What’s the point if the actors are all present but the audience isn’t? So…
Let’s wait and see.”
Betty was stunned. “But the more we wait, the more we’ll be forced to react. From the looks of it, Janus can still control himself. But if this continues, I’m worried he’ll lose control and say something that will implicate you. Then, we’ll really be in trouble!”
“What kind of trouble?” Emery smiled. “Janus has served me for so many years. He knows where the line is. He won’t be so stupid to start yapping at everyone. The reason he ended up like that was because he failed in the task I gave him. Not to mention… Does he have any proof?
“Does he have any proof that shows I’m the one who forced him to do this? Without any proof, whatever Janus said is nothing but an accusation. To be honest, it’d make things easier if he’s willing to accuse me and betray us. Traitors are easier to deal with than loyalists, after all…” Emery went on with a faint smile.
Betty didn’t know why, but she shuddered when she saw what was happening.
“But… What if Janus continued to be loyal?” she asked instinctively.
However, she quickly realized she had said the wrong thing, and quickly changed her tone.
“No, no. Janus has always been loyal to you. If you want him dead, he’ll kill himself. If you want him to live, he’ll stay alive even if he’s on the brink of death.”
